Fall is here!

I love this picture of Sadie. She wanted to sleep with her "fwinds" and this is how we found her :)
Fall has finally hit our part of Texas, or at least for a bit. We've even gotten rain...It's been absolutely wonderful!
Yesterday, we went to McKinney's flea market and it was fabulous! Of course we had to bribe the kids to get them to go. Chocolate chip cookies work every time!
We walked around looking for treasures, had corn dogs, nachos, and sipped on homemade lemonade.
Did I mention we wore long sleeves? Ahhhh...It felt amazing! I wish today that we were doing more of the same, but Holden isn't feeling well. Hopefully it is just a quick bug and the rest of us are able to stay well!

2 week countdown

Only two weeks left. Two weeks until Holden goes to first grade. I am an emotional mess. All I want to do is hold him in my lap, eat ice cream, and look at his baby pictures.

Other than a few short trips here and there, throughout his 6 1/2 years, we've spent all our days together.

He started out as my baby and has became my buddy.

I'm going to miss him something terrible. For a person, like myself, who wears their emotions shamelessly on their face, it's been hard to not be sad in front of Holden. God help me on his first couple of days.

I know it isn't about me right now, it's about this big new life step for him. I've been worrying like  mad woman about what we did and didn't teach him yet....The truth is, even though he will be away from me (tear) for eight hours, five days a week (tear), Tim and I will still be the most influential people in his life. We know this because we're grown ups.

We taught him about how much Jesus loves him and how to show that to others through kindness.
He will be ok. I know that he will be ok.
But....You better believe I will be creepy and spy on him during recess. I don't care.

Holden,
Mama loves you like crazy.
You are so precious to me.
You are going to love school, I promise!

Bye Bye Baby Tooth

Last Friday, Holden lost his very first baby tooth. It just so happened to be the very first tooth that ever popped through (tear). He let me wiggle it for him. It was barely hanging on, so I just pulled it. He didn't even realize it. At first, he got a little light headed, bless his heart, and then, he got excited. When Daddy got home, we went out for pizza to celebrate this milestone. Holden's growing up!

Wiggly

It's Friday! Yay! And they're playing together so nicely together. What a wonderful gift for a Friday afternoon:

happy play + minimal screaming= happy mama

Holden had a freak out during lunch today...his bottom tooth, the very first tooth that ever graced his mouth, felt "wiggly"- what?! My baby! I can hardly believe it. This officially makes him big, I think.

And this one...now that we're doing throw backs :)

Yesterday, this little miss came up to me and said, "Mommy...I was a stinker...I just stole a cookie." Ha! Seriously, she's something else and absolutely lovely and almost three :)
Hope  you have a very happy weekend!

Poor Holden

Monday night, Holden started complaining of not feeling well. I thought that he was probably just tired. He woke up around 11:30pm with a fever and the symptoms just kept coming. I decided to take him to the doctor as soon as we all woke up. Thankfully, we got right in.

The doctor seemed to think that it was either the flu or the norovirus. I don't know...he tested negative for flu, had the shot, but all his symptoms sound fluish, of course, I'm no doctor. He's had a pretty high fever and been talking out of his head and ordering me around like I'm his nanny or something. I guess that's excusable, since he's sick :)

The littles have been so good...

I've been cloroxing and lysoling like a crazy person. It would be the worst ever if more Ruses started getting sick. Seriously. I don't know if I could handle it, being caffeine-free and all.

So, for the second day in a row, we're watching boy movies and enjoying the snow from the window. He tried to play with his Lone Ranger legos, but as soon as he dumped them out, he realized it was a bad idea (as did I), and quickly went back to the sofa. Bless his bones.

Pray for him to find no more kid movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger in them. He may be worse than Nicholas Cage, in my book.
