Fall is here!

I love this picture of Sadie. She wanted to sleep with her "fwinds" and this is how we found her :)
Fall has finally hit our part of Texas, or at least for a bit. We've even gotten rain...It's been absolutely wonderful!
Yesterday, we went to McKinney's flea market and it was fabulous! Of course we had to bribe the kids to get them to go. Chocolate chip cookies work every time!
We walked around looking for treasures, had corn dogs, nachos, and sipped on homemade lemonade.
Did I mention we wore long sleeves? Ahhhh...It felt amazing! I wish today that we were doing more of the same, but Holden isn't feeling well. Hopefully it is just a quick bug and the rest of us are able to stay well!

Oh Happy Day

Did you hear about our crisis?... Somehow, during our cross-country move to Texas, Holden's beloved Star Wars movie was lost. I hate to say it because I know there are a lot of die hard Star Wars fans out there, but I just don't get it...But Holden does and he could talk about it 24/7. It's really sweet, so I play along and act like I get it. Maybe he knows I don't and that's why he keeps explaining everything in such detail to me :) Anyway, he would literally tear up often when he thought about it being lost forever. It was pitiful. But...the other day, Fount found it! I'm so happy that I was able to capture this moment between the two of them. Holden was over the moon with happiness!

Last weekend, Tim was in Austin for work... (Thanks, honey, for not eating glorious BBQ without me. That was love!!) It was just the kids and I for Friday and Saturday. They were just precious for me, thank goodness :) Every Friday night, we have Family Movie Night. Some times we watch an oldie...Other times, we let them rent/buy one from Amazon and last Friday was one of those special times. I was soooo happy when they picked Home Alone 2: Lost in NYC. Classic!
(Despite how this picture looks...I promise I don't have vampire teeth).
We laughed so hard! I surprised myself by knowing exactly where to scream (That's what Tim and I do when we know a word we don't use is coming up. It works like a charm. Although, I'm pretty sure they think I have turrets. Oh the things you do for your kids...)

I've been so proud of the kids. They've had such a major life change and they have handled it beautifully. Tim and I prayed and prayed that the move would be easy on them and God truly honored our request.

Our home is starting to become home...People are starting to become friends...
I couldn't be more thankful.

settling in.

Every one has been asking us how we are settling in, so I thought a family blog post was in order.

We have been in our home since the second week of July and I can hardly believe it. It feels like, just yesterday, that were praying over our possible big move to Texas. He was faithful to work out every single detail.

I took this picture, of the kids, when they woke up on our very first morning in our new home. This photo is significant for me. I remember looking at them and feeling relieved. We had been "on the move" for so long and were finally home.

We decided to go ahead and "camp out" once we closed, and we moved completely in a few days later. The kids love running around the empty house.

Unpacking is happening slowly, but surely...

Before our appliances were delivered, we went to Target often and checked out all the yummy places to eat in our new town. The kids, of course, loved it!

They have adjusted to Texas life perfectly. I think Holden might even have a little Texas twang slipping through already :)

Hello Goodbye

This was the day our lives changed! I didn't know it at the time. Tim kept it a secret until he got home :) I'm so glad he did!

I wish this picture was a video instead. None of them wanted to take this and every one, but Holden had been in tears a second before this shot. If you zoomed in, you'd probably be able to see the tears streaming down their faces. Of course they earned a bribe...

Before we could put our house on the market, we had to get granite and little miss tagged along and got me a good deal :) Isn't she cute here? We picked the one directly behind her.

This is our most favorite room in the house in mid-stage, looking so unlike us...All the kids art is taken off the walls. No more family photos lining the shelves...no army men set up for battle on the dining table...Ahhh I can't wait to see all of that at our new house!

I still can't believe we did it! Though the walls began to feel small, the love that surrounded us felt huge. Ok now I'm going to cry...
That's why I have pictures...That's why I have pictures...

Sadie went upstairs with me on one of our last mornings at home and crawled right up here, just like she always did. I think this spot made her feel big.
For me, it reminded me of how much she has grown....how much they all have grown in this house.

What a special place!

The kids aren't much for home staging, and to be honest, it was near torture. Thank goodness the kids and I were able to leave early!

On our last day as Virginians, we went to out for breakfast to our special family place, The Silver Diner. It was perfect. We rocked out to The Beatles and Spiderman, while we stuffed our faces with the most amazing French toast ever. It was bittersweet.

This was our last evening at home...

Oh my heart...Here is their last fireplace picture at the house, the morning we hopped the plane. They look so big here, don't they?

The goodbye was happening too fast for somebody, and then...of course, Tim and I lost it. As excited as we all are about our move to Texas, all five of us are leaving our home. We are picking up roots, starting over, and trusting God to make it all work out. It's scary. It's sad and it's one of the most exciting times in our whole lives.

After all the tears, we made it to the airport and through security with three smiling faces and they did beautifully on the flight. This was the boys first time to sit together, by themselves. It was fun to watch them feel big.

We close on our house in VA and close on our new Texas home, all next week and we can't wait!
A huge thanks to every one who has let us crash with them while we wait.
We appreciate your kindness more than words can express!

Flashback

I have enjoyed looking back at my pregnancy photos of Sadie and I. It really was such a special time with her. Even though I hadn't met her yet, I knew that she was going to be spunky. I just didn't know how lovely and precious she was going to be as well.

After the first three months or so of pregnancy, I was pretty good about taking tummy pictures of her. I wish I had have been more committed to doing that with both of the boys. Oh well. I was enormous with Holden and had a bad haircut with Fount. Who needs photos?

Here we are a three years ago, yesterday:

And here we are three years ago, today:

And here are some flashbacks from the last week of my pregnancy with Sadie...

I still can't believe how little Fount was when she was born. Look, Tim!

And the boys!

The boys have changed so much in the last three years!

Sky Meadows

(I love this house!)

This past weekend, we went hiking at one of our favorite spots~ Sky Meadows. It's one of the most perfect picnic spots in all of Virginia. It ended up being pretty windy during our lunch, but it didn't seem to bother Holden. There just happened to be Civil War soldiers practicing, which held his attention, as you can imagine!

Thank you, nice couple, who offered to take our picture :)

31

Tim has been 31 for nearly 2 weeks!!! We celebrated his special day by eating breakfast at The Silver Diner- a tradition in our little family, for all birthdays. We went hiking, had Mexican food, and loved on Daddy. It was a special day.

The next day, we went to the Georgetown Flea Market. It was pretty cold and windy, so it wasn't bursting with vendors, but we enjoyed it anyway. Walking through the streets of Georgetown and soaking in that beauty is always fun.

Sadie kept pointing out all the "golly" stores (she can't say her "r"s yet).

The next day it snowed. Again. Today it is snowing. Again. Where's spring?

And they sleep

Our end of the neighborhood doesn't have children, so the snow in all of the front yards was smooth as silk and untouched. It was so pretty...minus ours and our next door neighbor's...we stomped all through it yesterday.

After dinner, we all put on our snow gear and headed out. The kids are always so much fun to watch. They absolutely love tromping around in the snow.

:)

Snow angel

We had to promise them ice cream to get them to do this :)
