Back Track

Last weekend, the kids and I tagged along with Tim to Solomon's Island, Maryland. He had a work meeting there at one of the hospitals and we really needed to get away as a family. It didn't take us long at all before we had water on either side of us. It was a little rough while Tim was in his meeting. We had the perfect plan of going to this really great park and playing for a few hours while Tim was in his meeting, but we weren't there 30 minutes before Holden was begging to go to the bathroom. So in the middle of loading everyone up, Holden has an accident, Fount has an accident (this is like his 3rd one of the day. He gets stage fright in public restrooms) and not just an accident, but one that has some crazy way of soaking his shirt, underwear, shorts, socks, and shoes, but before I realize what he's done, I put him on my hip, so now I have pee on me. Yeah. Thank goodness for GPS, because I didn't have a clue where I was. It was a small-ish town and the closest Target was 20 minutes away. I don't know what I was thinking but I didn't pack enough clothes. You see, when you're only staying one night away and you have little kids, you have to pack a week's worth of things. After we got knew clothes for everyone, new shoes and socks for Fount and every one's in their carseats, Fount has another accident. Yeah. At that point, it was funny. Up until then, I was frustrated :)

That evening, we ate crab legs, burgers, and fries, right on the water. Afterward, we went to the hotel and went swimming. It was the perfect evening!

The next morning, we went to the Chesapeake Beach and let the kids run around and play.

After their bladders were empty, we really enjoyed ourselves.

The kids loved all the water, sand, and the seagulls. We even saw shark's teeth!

The Chesapeake Beach was perfect! I can't wait to go back again!

I never want to forget these little leggies!

I've had so many people ask me how we make staying in one hotel room with 3 kids, 4 and under work.  It's easy- let them wear them out that day, give them a bath, let them splash (because who cares), and let them stay up as late as they want, watching movies/tv. With those awesome hotel curtains, you're guaranteed to get to sleep until 9:30am. Heaven!
