What a busy day the fourth turned out to be. After staying up late watching my new found fav, LOST, Tim and I were able to sleep in a bit on Sunday morning- 8am to be exact! (Although, Fount did wake up at 4am for a bottle, then right back to sleep). We were asked to serve in the nursery on that morning. It was verging on the side of nightmare for me- ha! We had four little ones that screamed the entire time. Fount's a sympathetic crier, so I had to bring him over to Holden's class so Tim could watch him. He was all smiles as soon as we left the nursery.
After church, we came home for a quick hot dog lunch and then we were off again! We thought Holden would enjoy going to Bealton, VA to watch The Flying Circus Airshow, which I must say, was really impressive. There was even a lady who walked the wings and even hung by her ankles in mid air. It was nuts! Holden was in heaven! We plan on taking him again for the hor air balloon show in August. Here are some pictures from the airshow.
It was freakin hot. You can see Fount and I chillin in the shade in the back.
Can you see the lady standing on the wing?
That evening we went to downtown Manassas, VA for a fireworks show. (We forgot our camera...) As much as we love celebrating the 4th in DC in claustrophobia, we decided to stay closer to home and not battle the crowds. It totally freaked out Fount. At first, I wasn't sure what his reaction was going to be- he just stared at the sky with a blank look, then his knees started shaking, then his arms, then his lip poked out further...and further...and then the tears came. Not long after that, 2 firetrucks, and an ambulance drove up and the fireworks stopped- there was a fire. I'm not surprised. They seemed to be shooting them pretty low. We waited for a bit to see if they'd start back up and after about 10 minutes or so, we decided to head to the van. After we were about halfway there, the fireworks started up again and we watched them in the street.
I think we may have found a new family tradition- going to the Manassas firworks show- atleast while the boys are young.
