All of the pictures here, Holden drew all on his own, with no prompting from me. He requested me to cut out a gingerbread man and this is what he did....Jesus. A front and a back. Hurt and then healed.
On Thursday, August 23, 2012, Holden prayed the salvation prayer with Tim by his side.
It's been in the works for a while. He was asking lots of questions, we've been memorizing Bible verses...and he knows John 3:16.
I feel as though Tim's grandmother, Mim, had a hand in this...Just before she passed away, she had bought Holden two children's cd's- one was silly songs and the other was children Bible songs. Listening to these has opened the door for us to discuss what it means to be a Christian, on a level that he truely gets. Mim's death has also opened the door for us to talk a lot about heaven and all that surrounds that.
This is the most wonderful feeling for a parent's heart. We realize he's young, but he understands God's grace and believes it fully. There will never be a day in his life where he will remember not knowing, deep in his soul, who he belongs to, and who loves and cares for him above all, his Heavenly Father.
We had a celebration for Holden the evening after he asked Jesus into his heart.
It was a very special time with him.
We gave him an Adventure Bible.
He reads it everyday and treasures it. He places it high on the bookshelf to keep it safe from the littles. Even though he can't actually read yet, he asks to follow along in the chapter we read for Bible time. I love it.
Holden,
Mommy and Daddy are so very proud of your decision to follow Christ. We pray for you every single day. You are confident. Always have been. I know God is going to use that characteristic in you, to tell others about Him, whether it be by example or through your words. I know life is going to bring you trials, some will come with age, others will come along through life circumstances. Daddy and I will always be there to encourage you and remind you who you belong to. God is always forgiving and His love for you is unchanging. We love you so very much. Besides, God's precious gift of grace, being your parent is the most wonderful blessing.
Love you forever. No matter what. Always :)
XO,
Mommy
