Roadtrip 2012 continued

Day 2 of our road trip began quite early. Both boys were coughing, Holden much worse than Fount. We considered, very seriously, turning around and coming home. Tim ended up taking Holden to the ER and left with antibiotics and a steroid. The dr said that he would be contagious for up to 48 hours. On the safe side, we put the kids on the antibiotics as well. When Tim and Holden arrived back at the hotel, Holden looked much better and was anxious to get back on the road.

We ended up moving Sadie's carseat to the back

and having both of the coughing boys in the middle seat.

I think Sadie liked having my hair and I sit with her :)
Instead of watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates with the kids,

we put headphones on the boys and Tim and I listened to Dave Ramsey, a sermon, and some old school. Yes, we're nerds and we drive a minivan.

On Day 2, we made it all the way to Little Rock, Arkansas. I think it was there, when I realized how "northern" I've slowly become and how much "southern" I've forgotten. Mainly the extreme politeness...How strangers talk to you... At first, I thought, "What's your angle, weirdo? What do you want?" Ha! So funny.

Finding gluten free restaurants when you're on the road is like a treasure hunt. When we got to Little Rock, we found a pizza place called US Pizza Co. that sold gluten free pizzas. Hallelujah! It really hit the spot. I think the boys ate an equivalent of a large pizza. I don't think I've ever seen them eat so much.

After we ate, we quickly found a hotel. We were zonked.

As Holden was laying in his Mr. Incredible undies on his fold out couch bed, sippy cup in one hand, brother in the other, watching American Pickers on a big flat screen TV, I heard him softly say to himself, "I feel rich." It made me laugh. It doesn't take much for a kid. He just loved having all of his family together in one place. That's what true richness is, isn't it? I remember, just before Tim and I got married, that he told me, "We have a lot of love." It was such a simple statement. At the time, it didn't seem like something I'd hold onto as one of those forever memories, but I have and it's true. Each year we've been married, things have changed ALOT and after 7 years of marriage, the love we have, not only for eachother, but for our children is overwhelming and precious. I couldn't be more grateful for this vacation.

And neither could Sadie...
She got to sleep with Tim and I alot on this trip.
She prefers sleeping sideways and up in Tim's armpit. With that said, we had a very restful night sleep and woke ready to press on to Oklahoma~ our last day of the drive.

(More of our journey to OK come!)
