What a weekend

Tim ended up having to work in the sleep lab Thursday night, which I hate, but loved that we got to spend a whole Friday with him. We had totally forgotten that President Obama was going to be speaking at George Mason that morning, but as soon as we realized it, we hopped in the van (you don't hop anywhere when you have kids- you have to pack all the diapers, the wipes, the extra clothes, the formula, the water, the ice water, the snacky, the airplanes, the books, the burp cloths...) we got ready as soon as we could and headed out. Although we got there quick, it took us forever to find a parking spot, and once we did, we knew we'd never make it in time to hear him speak, so we just stood at the tape, directly across from the motorcade and waited patiently. It wasn't long until the cheers started and we saw him! The President! It was so exciting! I'm pretty sure he saw me. He smiled and waved. It was pretty exciting. Holden said, "I wanna hold Obama." It was funny.

After that we didn't want to go home, so we just started driving toward to mountains. And it was beautiful. Things are just starting to be in bloom. I love spring! We weren't in the car for too long, when we decided we were hungry. Thank goodness for GPS! Can I get an "AMEN?!"  I honestly don't know how I survived without one. We found really old restaurant/pub in the middle of the country. I'm not even sure what town we were in. We ate outside and the weather was perfect. After lunch, Tim took Holden to the pond that was just down from the table and he played hopscotch. He threw rock after rock into the pond. It was really sweet to watch. He's so easy to entertain. He loves to be outside. Tim quickly noticed that he had picked up something different to throw...It was turkey poop. (I know....) He told me, "I throw a turkey poopy, Mama."

After that incident, we decided to move on :) We had never been to a winery before and they're everywhere around here! We decided to stop at one on the way back. When we saw a sign that said, "free wine tasting," we pulled in.

It was such a fun experience. We tasted 12 different wines and ended up taking home two bottles. I can't wait to do it again. Afterwards, we walked down to a river and let Holden throw some more rocks. (Where was my camera?!! ) It was refreshing to be on farmland again.

Sounds like a fun day. I am with you on the GPS! I got one at Christmas and I absolutely love it.
