Fa La La La Blah

So my Christmas decorations are about to drive me crazy. Every year, like clock work, I put them away on New Year's day (Speaking of- don't forget to eat your black-eyed peas that day. I remember, when I was little, I wasn't a huge fan, but my Grandmother would always make me eat a spoonful to promise me a prosperous year. Is that a southern thing?...) Anyway, back to the decorations...I usually enjoy keeping them around- the lights make me feel all cozy and happy, but this year, I'm just ready to put them away and get organized again. I need to get one of those ornament storage holder thingies. For the past few years, old shoe boxes have worked, but now we have too many ornaments for them to fit inside. I'm feeling a Container Store run coming on! The only reason I haven't started putting away our Christmas decor is because we have family in town. My mom, her husband, and my grandparents arrived on Monday and they came bearing gifts. I don't know what Holden's going to do after the gifts stop coming. He's so bombarded by them all that he's having trouble deciding what to play with, so he just runs laps around the house.

I was so proud of Holden today! He told us 6 times that he needed to go potty and actually went every time. Of course he uses half a roll of toilet paper at every sitting, but I try to overlook that. I'm giving partial credit to the book, Everyone Poops. It's a little graphic if you're not into the whole poop thing, but Holden finds it quite hilarious. He even likes to make the poop sounds when we read it. Too much information? Hey- he's a boy! That's what boys do, right?..... We went to Macy's this past (do you say, "past" or "passed"? Teacher Jen, help me out.) weekend and he picked out big boy underwear. I wouldn't call them "big," they're the tiniest thing I have ever seen. I can't wait until he starts wearing them! We're definitely not pushing the whole potty thing and I think that's the best way to go about potty training. But a little bribe never hurt anyone :) He just turned two, so there's no rush, but I sure am anxious for him to be diaper-free. I don't think it'll be too long now.
