Holden has gotten so good at his signs. He does "all done," "please," "sorry," and "milk." Even though he's a little guy, he can say several words. He now points and says "wu dat?" It's precious. He does a lot of sounds that totally crack me up because you can tell that they really took some thought. I won't even begin to try to type the sounds. But they're something I won't ever forget. For horse, he makes a trotting sound. It's so sweet. He can do a blow dryer, wind, the moon (it sounds like an owl), helicopter, airplane, vacuum (which is the same sound as a blow dryer), and a couple others. They're so original.
He loves going through the alphabet. After we sing the song, we go through each of the letters and name what person in our family starts with that letter. When we get to each of them, he is able to point out the correct person.
When bath time is ending we sing "Fannie Mae." It's a song my Grandmother use to sing to me and it's one we've sang to Holden since he was born. I'll indulge you-
Fannie Mae, where are you going?
Outside to take a bath
Fannie Mae with legs like toothpicks
And a neck like a giraffe
Fannie Mae got in that bathtub
Fannie Mae pulled up the drain
Oh my goodness
Oh my soul
There goes Fannie Mae down that hole
Fannie Mae?
Fannie Mae?
At the end of the song we look for Fannie Mae down the drain. Holden's started saying, "fff" down the drain. It's hilarious because he's really looking for her. I've heard that kids are afraid of going down the drain, but Holden really gets into the whole drain thing.
He has such a tender heart. If he does something that he thinks hurt you, he'll lay his head on you to "give you love." He'll give all his toys and stuffed animals love.
Each day with Holden brings adventure. He teaches me love and shows me how to enjoy the simple things.
