While my mom and her husband, John, were here visiting from TX, they stayed with the kids for a whole day and night, while Tim and I enjoyed each other's company, minus the kids- a rarity for us. I even felt like God slowed down time a little for us, so we could cherish it even more. This was my first time to leave Sadie Jane...but from what I'm told, she did great.
We went to Sunday school and then headed out for a short drive to Ashby Inn and Restaurant. On the way there, we stopped at Hunter's Head Tavern for a lovely brunch. Thanks for the recommendation, Luke and Ardelle!
Afterward, we did some wine tastings. The weather was absolutely perfect and the company was even better!
It was so sunny!
Our first stop was at Naked Mountain. Next we went to Delaplane Cellars and the view was incredible!
And our last stop was at Aspen Dale Winery at the Barn. Although it wasn't the prettiest winery on the outside, I did enjoy the experience. It looked like a cabin on the inside. There was live music- just a guy and a guitar. And the best part was that we got to try our wine with different foods. It was so neat! We had so much fun!
This is a picture of the view we had off of our balcony. Wouldn't this be a pretty venue for a wedding?
That evening we enjoyed at quiet dinner at the restaurant at the inn. The food was spectacular and we didn't have to wrangle anyone. It was weird. We talked about our life and how blessed we are and held hands... :) We met a couple, dining next to us, that was there celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They too had three kids (grown and married). They looked so happy and sweet with one another, so quick to share their love story. Even thought we've only been married 7 years, it feels like the years are going by fast.
I still feel like we're just a couple of kids.
That night we sat out on our balcony, talked, and watched the stars. These city folk don't get the opportunity much!
Thanks, Nana and Papa John, for watching the kids for us!
