Delirious

Sadie woke up yesterday morning around 3am crying, which isn't like her. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, which isn't uncommon, she'll say "Mommy? Mommy?.." and she just needs a quick cuddle. So I knew when she was upset that something was probably wrong...Before I even picked her up from the crib, I could feel the heat radiating from her little body. When I checked her temperature, it was 102. Her fever hasn't broke for more than an hour ever since.

I took her into the doctor yesterday and, as I expected, she had an ear infection...a double ear infection. Every time she gets a runny nose, more times than not, it ends up in an ear infection. So far, up until now, we've avoided a double ear infection. It's always just been her right ear and this time it was really bad. I felt terrible when I asked her, "Sadie, does your ear hurt?" and she nodded and held her right ear....Ahhh....

The doctor counted up her ear infections and spoke the dreaded words, ear tubes. So I made an appointment with the ENT for August 21st, which was the soonest I could get in for a consultation.

So far, she's been running a fever ever since early yesterday morning. It hasn't broke for more than an hour at a time. She had a really rough day and last night seemed even worse, running a 103. I was up with her nearly every hour. Her fever broke around 5:30am, she went back to sleep and just woke up and it's still gone. Hallelujah! The doctor said to expect it to linger for about 3 days.
