House Proud

If you watch The Nate Berkus Show, you're probably familiar with "House Proud." It's my very favorite portion of the show. It's where everyday people give you a peak inside their homes. I love it! Most of the ones shown were done on a very modest budget, so you can get all sorts of ideas.
Since becoming homeowners, Tim and I have really enjoyed making our home our own by changing some things up. It's been fun. Before I found out I was pregnant with Sadie, we were knocking out all kinds of projects each weekend. Now that she's here, and we're getting into the swing of things, ideas are starting to float around again. Anyway, I thought it would be neat to mark the before and afters of our home.

Here's a look at our kitchen before...

When we first layed eyes on this kitchen, it belonged to a couple of bachelors. Empty beer and liquor bottles lined the top of the shelves. I totally don't get it that kind of decorating.
For your enjoyment-

Don't we look happy?
We had been out on a date that night and had queso and drinks. Mine was a bathtub of margarita. It was awesome, for a woman who thought she was in menopause...I was a month pregnant with Sadie- surprise!

:)

And here's our kitchen now, minus a new counter top and backsplash, to come!

Painted our pantry door with chalkboard paint.
Do you see the painting my sweet husband surprised me with? I love it! Thank you, Cathy Allen!

Hiding our washer and dryer

We'll do granite, of course, (although, wouldn't marble be a dream?) for the counter and I really like the idea of doing simple subway tile for the backsplash. We'll see! I'm not sure when we'll have the energy or time to knock out a project like that, but it's next on the long list. That is, unless our gigantically bulk of a TV breaks, then we're off to reconstruct our fireplace so we can mount an oh so wanted flat screen! Yay!

Next, room of my "House Proud," will be our dining room!
