I saw this "Declutter" post on The Shabby Nest and thought I'd pass it on. Tim and I did some major decluttering last weekend and it was the best feeling in the world to get rid of the stuff we weren't using/wearing and that was just in the way. Most of what we chunked was clothes. If I'm really honest with myself, there's only a handfull of clothes I actually wear. Babies and nursing have done a number on my body- no matter how much baby weight I take off, my shape is totally different now, so I had a lot of things that needed to exit my closet. I heard, the other day, that you should turn all of your hangers backwards, in your closet, and whenever you wear something, turn it the right way. If after 6 months, you still have things that remain backwards on the hanger- get rid of it. I love that idea!
Having kids who are quite hard on their toys and like the most random things- like those paper credit cards you constantly get in the mail...Anyway, we are constantly purging their toys, but no matter how many things I get rid of, the pile never seems to go down. Ha! I heard about a consignment store called Kid to Kid and it's wonderful! I was able to sell a lot of the boys' clothes and everything else just went to the thrift store, which is right next door- so convenient! I still have a ton of their clothes that I need to get rid of, but it's all out of season stuff, so I have to wait. No need to save it anymore!
Decluttering feels so good, doesn't it?!
