Texas our Texas

You wore us out while we were there. I'm not sure if it was the drama :) or the plague that got us. Can I get a "ha ha?" (I'll go with the plague). We got the plague. Before we left home, the boys were already sick with colds- Holden seemed, at the time, to be doing a little better (though he'd been battling it for nearly two weeks, at the time). I took Fount, the evening before we left town, to the doctor for another "we won't be able to do anything for you" appointment- even though my sweet baby had fluid on his ear. (We're looking for a new pediatrician as we speak). After a rough plane ride of "those looks" and both the boys coughing up near a lung, we made an appointment for the next morning at the walk in clinic in Abilene. There the doctor confirmed that Fount had a definite ear infection and put both the boys on medication. It was a relief. You'd think they'd be on the mend after that, right? No- the plague took Holden down at his birthday party- he threw up everywhere and then some. It was so sad.
At first, we attributed his upset tummy to the medication he was taking and that he was just not eating enough with the doses.
(Christmas Eve @ Grandy and PaPaw's)
After it kept up, even after stopping the medication, we knew it was more.
So, on Christmas morning, I took completely sick little guy to the ER, while Tim took our well Fount onto Christmas with his family.

(I think Fount enjoyed being the center of attention, don't you think?)
It was the roughest kind of sick that Holden's ever been and it lasted 4 days for him (mind you, we were only in TX for 2 weeks). As soon as Holden was feeling better (thanks to the shot and medication he got at the ER), we decided that it would be nice to go out to eat- bad idea. As soon as our food came out, Fount started to get really fussy, which is totally unlike him, since he's a big fajita eater. So, I thought he'd feel better walking around. Pops and Mimi happened to also be at the restaurant, so I thought we'd go say hi. As soon as we got to the table, he threw up and then it kept happening. It was awful- like the exorcist awful. Of course, we left immediately. That night, after no change, Tim took him onto the ER. After 3 days, he was all better- the ear infection and cold still lingering, but plague-free. Seems like just about everyone in our family, with the exception of a few (including Tim and I), managed to completely avoid it- thank goodness!

So that was the first 7 days of our trip :)

Here are the happy times-
Pops and Holden

Fount's first time on the farm
I remember doing this as a little girl...

Holdie, the tractor driver!

Fount's very first tractor ride!

Not the best family photo, but it was so sunny!

It was so nice to see everyone, though we didn't get to enjoy everyone, nor the yummy mexican food, as much as we had hoped, it was still very nice. Our Christmas celebrations, mostly ended up being a bit sporadic- thank you, family, for undestanding!

As crazy as it was, Tim and I did manage to squeeze in 3 dates. We went to dinner and to Sonic, went to Starbucks and then saw True Grit (so great!) and shared a popcorn and an icy- we even got to hold hands during the movie (which, if you have kids, you totally understand how wonderfully special that is), and then, the night before we left, we went to Abuelos!

Since we've been home, it's been a little crazy- Tim's been sick and now me. Hopefully we'll be the picture of health soon!

On a happy note, I had a doctor's appointment yesterday- a very long appointment, so Tim stayed home with the boys. Of course, all three of them loved the extra time together! I did my glucose test, blood work, got my rhogam shot (I'm RH-), and my flu shot. It was nuts! I haven't yet heard how my glucose test went- hopefully I passed! I was borderline with Fount, so I'm crossing my fingers! The doctor said that Sadie's heartrate sounds perfect and I am measuring right at 26 weeks, which is a little on the small side, but no different than what I measured with Fount. In fact, with him, I was measuring 3 weeks behind, which is exactly what I'm measuring with Sadie. I'll be 29 weeks on Saturday! I guess they might really have pegged the correct due date for me...we'll see! From now on, I'll be going every 2 weeks. Can this really be happening? I can't believe how fast everything is going.

Hope you all had happy holidays!

Oh, my poor friend! I'm so sorry that Holden was so sick--and that it happened on your trip. Ugh. And that you all have had to go through it! Way to try to enjoy the trip anyway (despite two ER trips--is that a Rouse vacation record?) and I'm sure the grandparents were glad to help you guys out. And since you're feeling better...isn't it about time for another belly pic? :)
