And you think you're surprised :)
In May, my doctor put me on a shot that was suppose to put me into a menopause to control some pain I was having due to endometriosis. Several months ago, I had an exploritory surgery to find/remove any endometriosis but, unfortunately, there was no success. To my disappointment, they found nothing. As a last ploy at endometriosis, I decided to take my doctor's advice and try a "menopause" shot (no birth control needed, ofcourse). If it was endometriosis that was causing my pain, it was suppose to go away within a week and a half to two weeks of taking the shot. And to my surprise, that's exactly what happened- like magic it disappeared at the week and a half mark. Minus some hot flashes, I had never felt better. Until about 3 weeks ago...we were getting ready for church and I started feeling really weird- light-headed and sick...Of course it was our turn to work in the nursery. On our way to church, I told Tim, "This is exactly how I felt when I was pregnant with Holden and Fount." In fact, I almost didn't even take a test with Fount because I was so sure of the symptoms. After a good laugh, I surrendered to the thought that it must be a stomach bug. After no signs of the bug happening to anyone else, and my condition going from worse to great to yuck to better-- on Monday, Tim came home with a pregnancy test. I almost felt silly taking it because my doctor had assured me that the shot would make it impossible for me to get pregnant...Within seconds of taking the test, it showed up positive. They can be wrong, right? Tim even called me while I was at the grocery store buying the second test and said, "Honey, the line is getting brighter." (As in, don't spend 20 more bucks, but I did anyway). Well, after taking 3 of them, I was pretty convinced that a little miracle had happened and my doctor was about to be pretty stumped.
A few days later we went to the dr and she seemed more shocked than we were- stumbling over her words...appologizing...It wasn't until we left and Tim and I were talking that I wondered...how many people come into the doctor with a surprise that didn't fit into their "plan" and they don't see it as a wonderful little blessing? It saddened me. When Tim and I were doing our pre-marital counseling with his sweet Uncle Tracy, something we'll never forget that he told (I'm paraphrasing), "There will never be a perfect time to start your family."- And what he meant was, God is the one designing, adding, and making the plan for your family. The more perfection-planning we try to do, we're always surprised because it never happens the way we think it will, but none the less perfect.
Our new addition has a due date of April 2, 2011. So that makes me 9 weeks, 1 day. We've been blessed to have two ultrasounds already and have seen the heartbeat! My next appointment is on September 8th. I feel like the real count down is the first trimester and a half- the sick as a dog days :) I've had serious cravings this time around. It seems like, if I could have a taco bell anything or an Olive Garden salad or some pineapple or...(you get the picture), that it would take all my nausea away. I'm usually not so lucky, but that doesn't stop me having Tim bring all that stuff home. What a wonderful man he is :) One of the first things he said after we found out that we were having another baby was, "I guess I better get to the laundry." He's been so incredible-doing every thing around that house and I do mean every thing. I'm going to be Betty Crocker once the morning sickness is over, I promise, Tim :)
We'd appreciate your prayers as we go through these next 31-ish weeks. Not sure when I'll start posting "belly" pictures. I still wasn't finished with getting rid of the baby body from Fount :) Ha Ha!
