9 months

Fount turned 9 months old on Monday and he stood for the very first time- even taking a step, twice that day. It was so exciting! What a brave little boy he is- fearless. He'll climb on anything and put anything in his mouth. Holden's always telling him, "That's dangerous, Fount. You'll get electricuted!" Today he nearly ate a stiff worm, a bandaid, and one of those outlet covers that toddlers can remove.
Fount is loud and happy. When I go to get him in the mornings, he's always happily yelling and does that for most of the morning. He thinks it's funny. He says, "Da Da" a lot, and "Mom Mom" sometimes. And he loves to give kisses. He tries to wave and can sign "more" and "all done." And he still has just two bottom teeth. He's been eating finger foods for a while now. He loves anything I put in front of him, which makes it easy and he signs "more" a lot through his meals :)
At his 9-month well visit today, he got a shot and blood work done. It was awful. I felt so sorry for him. As soon as the nurse led us into the room, he looked around, poked out his lip, and busted into tears. I think he knew what was to follow... He weighs 20 lbs., 6 oz., (50th %) and is 29 in. (85th%)
He goes non-stop. His body never seems to relax. He's always either going somewhere or thinking about going somewhere- even when he's sleeping, it seems. He sleeps on his side, with his arms straight out in front of him- it's pretty funny. Being with Holden is his favorite place to be. It's so sweet. Holden's started calling him "Buddy" and, also, "American Dave," which I don't really get, but I think it's absolutely hilarious because Fount actually responds to it. They've recently started wrestling and, at first, I thought Holden was going to squoosh Fount and he probably was, but Fount doesn't seem to be bothered- he just giggles. Holden takes him for rides on his shoulders, which sounds dangerous, but we hold him on there. At dinner, this evening, Holden told him, "You don't have a mustache or a tattoo yet, Fount." I think the minute those words came out of his mouth, I swear my mind raced to his college days...
Already, I can tell what a kind boy he is going to be. He carries a content smile on his face, just like the one I see on my Grandmother- no teeth showing, but none the less of a smile.
As  I was reading about Holden at 9 months and even the months before that, I'm realizing how different they really are. Holden was and still is a bookworm. He'd be happy reading all day long (as long as he could be holding an airplane). But when we try to read to Fount, we have to perform a spider hold to keep him still. He'd just rather chew on the airplane.

What a sweet precious he is.
