"Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish" Galatians 5:16, 17 (pg. 77)
Chapter 6 titles, "His Temptations." For me, this chapter spoke specifically to praying constantly for your marriage and for your husband. Not just when things are off, but always. What a great reminder that is. Besides our relationship with the Lord, here on earth, the most important relationship we will ever know is the one we have with our spouse. Therefore, it needs to be constantly covered in dedicated love, honor, and prayer.
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your sould, with all your mind, and with all your strength."
Mark 12:30
(pg. 85)
I liked the way Chapter 7 read. If your husband is like mine, he's a thinker. I guess that's a nice trait to have, right? Every decision he makes is always well thought through. The author says that we should be praying for the enemy to stay out of our husband's thoughts so that he can stay "productive and successful (in his) work" (pg. 81). We need to be praying '"hope," "prosperity," "possibility," "success," and "new beginning,"' over our husbands. (pg 82).
Did you know that "The two most powerful weapons against the attack of lies upon your husband's mind are the Word of God and praise"? (pg. 82) In regards to praise, it "is also a powerful tool because God's presense comes to dwell in our midst when we worship Him." (83) One of the many ways we can do that is by praying for our husbands. It truely is an act of praise.
The verses in this chapter are super:
Ephesians 6:18 (pg. 81-82)
Timothy 1:7 (pg. 83)
Ephesisans 6:10 (pg. 84)
Philippians 4:6,7,&8 (pg. 84)
Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5
