A Little Christmasy

This was the nativity scene that I grew up with. My mom gave it to me for Christmas in 2004. This year, I have it placed up high (for obvious reasons), on our china hutch, which was a real steal. Tim found it at the dumpster outside our studio in DC. We couldn't pass it up! It's beautiful! That's the thing I've learned about living here, if someone doesn't want something, they just put it outside and someone just picks it up. I love that!

Now this is a nativity scene to play with. I absolutely love it. It's by "Little People." Holden and Fount got it this year from Goody and Pa.It was apart of their pre-Christmas gifts. (Grandprents...) When we first put it out, Holden put his Christmas Mickey Mouse inside and said, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!" I read somewhere about waiting until Christmas morning to put baby Jesus out. I understand the reasoning, but I think you miss out on talking about why He's there throughout the season. What do you think?...

Here's our tree. Every year I have decided to get something new for our Christmas collection and this year, the Santa tree topper from Pottery Barn is one of two things I invested in. After looking at our tree so much, I've come to the conclusion that I need to work on it more next year. I love a full tree, don't you? I think next year I'm going to add some larger ornaments and ribbon.

Every year the grandparents give ornaments and this is one Holden received this year. Airplanes are one of his very favorite things. I'm surprised he's kept it on the tree. The first married Christmas Tim and I had, his mom gave us all of his childhood ornaments. There wasn't a more thoughtful gift she could've given that year. Especially since our tiny tree only had two ornaments on it. Whenever Holden and Fount leave home and have their own tree, they'll get to take all their ornaments with them- sure to have a full tree!

Here was my other Christmas buy- garland (Target). I've always wanted to do this on a staircase. I love the way it looks at nighttime and when I come down the stairs in the middle of the night to fix Fount a bottle. It's so Christmasy! I also got this fabulous ribbon (Target) to tie the garland with. It's very wintry. I also tied it on our boxwood wreath on our front door.
And onto the kitchen...
Here is Tim and I's very first tree. I can't remember where we bought it at. I'm sure it was at Target... What a change it's made, hu? This year I put it in our kitchen and decorated it with red polka dot ribbon, plastic forks and fruit. I was trying to be on the cheap, creative side.

I got this Christmas plate for a wedding gift and I've never known where to appropriately place it.

At the beginning of the season, this door hanger had white Christmas balls on it, but not anymore :)

Here's our 1/2 bathroom

I bought this red vase at Hobby Lobby while I was in college. It was a very "old" thing to buy, but I've always liked it, plus, you can use it year round.

When I was a little girl, we had one of these Christmas countdowns. In the town that I'm from, there are two huge events that I miss dearly- Christmas in November and Christmas Carousel. They are very artsy craftsy events. My mom found us a countdown Santa there and sent it to us last year. Every day Holden gets to move the candy cane. It really helps him with counting. "1, 2, 3, 4, 7..."

And the star of the show- our mantel! Here we display our Christmas favorites- our stockings (Pottery Barn) and our Chistmas cards.

Merry Christmas, every one!
What should be my Christmas decor purchase next year?

All decorations are beautiful. The mantel is my favorite. Guthry and I always wish we had one. I have nowhere to hang stockings at this point!

I don't know what your next purchase should be. I think everything looks great!

Do you put your stockings on the wall or your door?...
