For those of you who have been praying for Fount's reflux-- thank you! After two trips to the doctor, two medication tries, a dairy drop, and countless calls to the nurse, I finally feel confident that the worst is behind us. I dropped dairy over a week ago and as of the past Tuesday, feel that it made it out of my system enough to notice it helping Fount's nursing. He has all the classic reflux symptoms. On top of that he had some others that concerned me, so yesterday I took him to the doctor and after giving the doctor the low down, he told me that not only did Fount have reflux and a dairy allergy, but he has a protein allergy as well. He gave me a sample of a Similac formula called "Alimentum" and asked me to try it out for a week. On top of that, he added Zantac into his Prevacid routine. I have to say, I was quite disappointed in the fact that I may need to stop nursing Fount, but honestly, if formula is the easiest on his tummy, why the heck not? So, as of yet, he's had four 4 ounce bottles and he has eaten better and slept better than he has in his whole 3 1/2 weeks of life. It was like night and day. I was shocked at how quickly we were able to start seeing results. We go back on the 24th for a check-up.
I almost forgot- we have a 9 pounder now!

I'm so happy that things are looking up! I'm sure you've already had sticker shock from the cost of Alimentum; I just gave away TWO cans of it when we move to this house. Bummer! Call Silimac and tell them that your baby just started it...ask them to send you samples (every little bit helps). And also make sure that you're on the Similac mailing list for coupons...Alimentum is expensive (we almost had to switch Anna at about 8 months, but Soy ended up working for her).
SUCH a joyous family Meagan. Loved the announcement. Such sweet little boys!!
So glad that Fount is doing better and that you found a fix for his relux! :) Thanks for the update!
